Sitnroc, not all apes are the same even though they are the same size bars. We all know Carlinis run a little taller and taking into consideration the risers you use too. I am running the Exile internal throttle and I used his throttle cable and cut to size once mounted and installed. All the electrical my INDY did himself. You have to switch to hydraulic clutch and I used the Harley set up, the lever, reservoir and SE 6 speed tranny cover with generic 3/16's plastic hydraulic hose. I couldn't imagine running apes any other way than going internal.
NOTE: This hydraulic clutch set up is awesome. It is SO smooth and precise. Had I known this all along I would have run with it many years and many bikes ago even if I didn't have apes!!!

Thanks for the info bro and Exile was my first choice and will have to look at HD setup for my Slim ...another question is what about maintenance on cables? Your ride is one of my inspirations
I am going full internal also with some LA Chopper TreeHugger apes. I run a jockey shift so no clutch required. Just waiting on JayBrake to get off their *** and make the brake lever. Throttle is Exile. 13.5 Apes, no riser.
Hey Sitnroc, what's up? First, thanks! The main reason I went with the Harley set up was because of my front brake lever and reservoir. They had the match to it in Harley, I didn't want to have to replace that to have a matching set and needles to say I did not want to have a set up that didn't match or two different brands. I also went with the SE tranny cover because I have the SE 6 speed and I wanted to keep the logo that is engraved on it.
If it wasn't for that I would have gone with another brand that had the drain plug built into it so that I didn't have to pull the cover or drop my SS to change out my tranny fluid. dyolfknip, I love those tree huggers. I liked the Carlinis just a HAIR more but they were definitely a very close 2nd choice.
I will never get rid of this bike but if I ever had a 2nd bike the tree huggers are going to be one that bike for sure!
Congrats on the purchase, I'm running that same combo. I'm about 5'10" and my hands end up just above my shoulders. No problems with FL police for me. Post up some pics when you get them installed.
Finally wrapped up the install of a set of RSD King Apes on my Slim. Weather sucks, so no photos yet, but man, I love 'em. Got in a good couple of rides (albeit in the rain) this weekend. Really puts me in a good riding position, and they look mean as f***. One giant step forward to getting the beast where I want it.
