OK Im new to my Harley ownership but that about it. I have always known that softails gave a smooth ride. But for the life of me I cant understand why reading through post I keep finding people who ask about the ride of the softtails. When did softtails get the ruff ride rep??????
Softails have less suspension travel due to the suspension being hidden underneath the bike and those who are on the heavier side may need more suspension especially if they have an additional heavy passenger. Both my softails are extremely comfortable and my heritage I've done full day rides without the slightest riding fatigue. Another reason is hater are always gonna hate. Dudes often time feel the need to put down another bike in order to feel better about the one they now own.
I agree with all that's been said. I just keep shaking my head when I read a post about someone who is thinking about a softail and asks about the rough ride or will it ride as good as my #$%&^& .
I went from a custom bike, I wont say which but they all ride the same. And I almost fell asleep on the interstate on my heritage... rant over

I rode a 1990 softail and now own an 07.....when I hear people complain about softails it is usually about the vibration the older bikes had. There is no comparison between the old and the new IMHO. I like the ride on my 07 a whole lot better.
