Default Half helmet neck strain

I have a basic harley brand half helmet and when I hit 50+ it picks up all of the wind and I have to force my head to stay straight which in turn strains my neck muscles (I'm not running a windshield). Does anyone have any half helmet recommendations that won't give me this problem? Mine sits fairly far up on my head. Perhaps something with a lower profile with more contoured edges would work well? Thanks

I went to a windshield. Now I will never go back except when it is 90 outside.

Wear a full face...That way you get to have an open casket funeral after the wreck.

But seriously...F/F helmet don't catch nearly as much wind as halfassed helmets do and they actually protect your head better in an accident.

I tighten the strap a little and tilt the helmet forward. I only wear one when I go out of state..

Default Licks novdot half helmet

I run a licks novdot mini, after finding right size that had snug fit I find it doesn't lift on me at higher speeds. And if it does for you at all, you probably won't feel as much lift, as it's such a light helmet compared to some of the larger profile half helmets I've ridden with.

I also have a bell 500 3/4 which lifts at higher speeds too, so no luck there for me.

I have found more neck fatigue with full faces helmets as it creates kind of a bobble head effect. With my neck trying to stabilize more weight, fatigue sets in faster.

All of this because I don't have the cash lying around for a windscreen. Hope that was somewhat helpful.

If it has a Visor then there is part of your problem. I stopped using helmets with visors because of that very issue....

This is the helmet I wear and I like it very much. I also have a windshield which I use most of the time but when I am shield less I notice no neck fatigue.

Interesting, my outlaw helmet with the small visor helps. It creats a bit of downforce at speed. Without visor in have issues, with visor no issues

I had the same problem with half helmet and no shield. Went to a Bell 500 3/4 helmet and have been very happy with results.

You'll probably have that issue with any DOT helmet, even some of the non DOT. I've used a Voss half novelty for years. It used to parachute a bit till I figured out how to adjust the straps. The voss allows you to adjust the 'y' strap around the ears. I shortened the front strap so it sits low on my forehead and no more problems with parachuting.
