Taking the seat, rear fender, struts out of the equation and focusing solely on the tank. Are the frames of these two bikes, as it relates to the gas tank, the same?
Local Harley shop is saying that in 2011; a change was made to the backbone. So the channel in the tank would be different. It would be a big help if I could confirm this without going down the road of buying tanks just to see.
I don't want to post another thread, but why do the 2010 and older softail tanks have a nipple on the top and the newer ones do not. What is supposed to go here? Is it a vent line?
That dash will fit your stock Slim tank. The only external difference between the 08 tank and your 13 is the vent line. the 08 has the vent line on the fuel tank, and the 13 has the vent line on the top plate that holds the fuel pump. It looks like the stock Slim top plate won't work for that dash, so that is actually what you need to replace to make this work. You will need part # 60900001.
Edited: Changed the part number to the correct one.
P.S.
I would buy the dash and see if it fits with your stock plate first as I have found Harley to have incorrect part numbers on this plate. But, the number listed above is the one you need, Harley states that the plate currently on your 13 Slim is part # 60900003.
