I ditched the five pound anchor that came on the front of my bike...I went to the auto parts place and got the smallest 12 volt horn in black...five bucks, such a deal. I installed it down under the front of my bike on a drilled metal tab that came on the frame. Works great, nearly invisible and cheap. Ride safe.
Yup, this. My horn is my right hand. A little twist is all you need.
I'm pretty happy with my "Wolo Bad Boy". Twistin' the throttle wasn't quite cuttin' it, even with Short Shots. Sometimes I use both.
If I could easily mount a horn which was 100 times as loud, you betcha I'd be using it! Danged people who text and internet browse while they're driving!
Those of you who go without a horn can decide your own fate, just like you can decide to bungee jump without the bungee.

I don't have any stats, but I would venture to say that 99% of horn usage (both cages and bikes) is AFTER a close call has already taken place and it is used to vent frustration and anger at the other driver. I have never seen the use of a horn PREVENT a close call or accident. maybe it happens, but rarely. If a vehicle cuts you off or places you in a bad situation and your first reaction is to go for the horn button and not the throttle or brake, then that horn will likely decide your fate.
