Getting ready to order some viking bags for my Fatboy. A friend has some on his bike. I like them, and experience with them here?
Just installed some on my 09 Fat Bob. They look great. I like that they are leather but still a rigid bag. Install was fairly easy. Was a little worried about them being flimsy but once installed they mounted up very solid. after mounting mine I think I am going to remove them and Grind off about 1/2" off the mount to get them a little closer to the bike for a more streamline look.

Careful! The axle bolt will hit the inside fiberglass portion of the bags when you hit bump. Mine hit and I have the quick disconnects for the luggage rack on mine which makes them stick out an inch further than the ones do without the quick disconnects.
I contacted viking and asked them how long was that area you are going to grind was and they could not tell me. I was asking them that becuse i have the quick release backrest and rack and i need to know how far out the bags will end up. Can you tell me how long that area (area where the bolt goes through to the top part of the fender) is before you grind it.
Thanks!!!!!!!

It took me about 2 hours to mount them.
I also have a quick detach luggage rack on my fatboy and I was wondering how far out do the bags seat from the side of the fender. If possible can you post a pic to see how they look as far as distance for the fender.
thanks!!!!!!

After some research, I found the left side swing arm bag by Viking Bags is just about twice the cubic inch capacity as the one offered by Harley and half the price too. And the small inside pouch is a plus too. Ordered one tonight. I'm looking forward to getting it.

Ive heard that pouch doesnt actually exist. Its in the video, but not actually on the bag. Read it multiple times on here and I think on the site reviews.
No, the pouch is not on in the bag. And it's too small for my iPad, which a huge problem. So, I'm going to return it, since I take my iPad on long rides. And returning things, is almost always not a speedy experience.
I ordered a tool bag from their website. I like the bag but it doesn't match the picture or description. It's not as long as the description stated nor does it have the Viking logo around the twist lock. From that and what other reviews I've read the bags are decent stuff and most everyone likes them but they don't always send what you think you're getting. Could be a shipping issue or even simpler a website issue listed incorrect information. I have however used their online chat feature from the website and spoke with a couple guys about that and they seem helpful and can check on things so I would recommend this before ordering so they can confirm measurements or anything else before you spend and possibly have to return.
Just wanted to chime in and say that I purchased a set of Viking bags some time ago.
They are extremely well made and durable. Very tough, and good looking.
They are lockable, but that lock is at the end of a strap which can be cut.
I have mine bolted to the bike. They look as good as the day I bought them.
I wish they were a bit bigger, but I got the style I was looking for.
I would definitely buy them again !
P.S - They are not the ones in my pic.
Those were huge soft bags that got cut open on the bottom from the rear axle bolt.
They were too big, but of course - my wife loved them.

I'd also like to add, the bag I got was very well made, thick leather and no complaints there at all. It was just too small for what I needed. If it had fit my iPad, it's be on my bike now.
