why?
After 8 pages I hope you know why now....It's your bike do what you want, find a good indy to do your work and sail that sucker down the road. I just don't believe I read all 8 pages....oh I know it made me laugh!!!
Hmmm, where to start with this thread? It is my opinion that most riders do things to their bikes to set them apart from anyone else. No one has a bike like mine, as far as I am concerned. I don't care if i's something as small as white plug wires, as an example.
Money wise? If I ever went to sell this bike, which I never will, I would lose thousands and thousands of dollars on this bike, easy. I knew when I got and started on this bike that it was my last bike. This bike goes to the boy when I die. It will then be passed on down to my Grandson, it's already in the will as such.
Stock bikes? This one will probably catch me some flack but I don't think there are any stock bikes that are good looking right off of the showroom floor as is. I have been around customized bikes so much since I was a kid that "stock" doesn't do much for me. When I see a new stock bike I see it in my minds eye customized, not stock. STOCK = BORING!

That's one hell of a bike you got there, SUUIE. Post bigger pics, por favor.
As for putting stuff on the bike, I like doing it, obviously. But I also think it can go overboard. I try to find the right mix of functionality and looks. My general rule is most everything you put on should have some type of function that improves the ride.
One thing though, I would never call my mods, "my build." I think you really gotta chop and shave stuff to call it that.
I did some stuff to my Slim that was kinda tricky. But I didn't "build" it.

Why do some people put other things on their bike (paint, pipes, handlebars, etc.?) Doesn't that make the bike look ghetto? Won't you catch a beating if you pull up to the wrong 1% bar? Think about it...if H-D wanted that stuff on the bike, they would have made it that way. I suggest we all save our money and leave them the way they look and perform the best. STOCK!
Good job getting "bent over" by Harley and aftermarket marketing.
And since individuality of the culture has been brought up in this thread, don't forget to conform by buying your Harley counter-culture uniform, the "urban pirate" outfit.
Lordy lordy, I've been motorcycling for 40 plus years, and Harley riders are the biggest conformists I've ever run across.

Yeah I agree with the last post. It seems to me that, it is now gotten to the point where it is mainstream to modify the hell out of your bike. It is now the rebel who doesn't. I have no beef with the guys or girls who do. I am sure I will eventually make some changes, but I do like and respect the factory look. I am just happy as hell to finally be on a Harley cruiser and that's enough for me right now. I feel that we are all kindred spirits and despite some of yall's attempts to **** me off, I love you anyway. So...suck on that.
