Hello forum members, New guy here. New rider here, been 20+ years since I road and that was off road dirt riding back then.
Anyway, Im in hunt for a new bike my question pertains to the front standard brake system (non ABS) on the 2014 Fat Bob vs 2014 Softail Front & rear brakes. Help me understand the difference between, I realize they both stop the bike and also see that the Fat Bob has two disc's upfront Is that how the Bob's descroptin reads 4 piston front = 2 pistons on each caliper and one caliper on each side ? Whats the free floating rear mean ?
The FAT BOB"S
4-piston fixed front, and 2-piston torque-free floating rear
and
2014 Softail's
4-piston front and 2-piston rear
Thank You

The fat BOB brakes are dual disc and wi provide more stopping power with less fade. Having said that the real difference will be feel. To get the same stopping power from a slim you just have to grab it harder. Some say the softail brakes are weak and spongy so they swap to lyndal pads or put touring calipers and rotors on.
