Default Whine in primary?

I am in need of some help or any information at all, I have a 2009 heritage softail, I have a horrific whine coming from my primary, it is rpm related more rpms the louder it gets, and the warmer the motor is the louder the whine, does it in neutral, in gear, moving and not moving does it constantly, has anybody ever had this problem before? I have had the primary cover off and didn't see anything out of the ordinary. Any help would be great.

I had the same issue on my train, at 20,000 miles I had a bearing that failed on me.

I'd get it to the dealer. Sounds like you may have a bearing or stator issue.

Try this:

With the engine running, transmission in neutral, clutch lever released.

Noise is present.

Now pull in clutch lever and drop into st gear. Does the noise stop?

Sounds to me like your primary chain is over-tightened and howling. Could be a bad adjuster.

Running it like this will severely damage bearings related to the primary, and even the compensator.

I checked the primary chain and it about 5/8 play which is about right, I did order a hayden tensioner to see if maybe that will help, and the noise is present at all times but barely noticeable at high speeds, it's really bad at about 20mph going through town, which bearing did you end up replacing?

Did you pull the cover to see if your ol' lady is trapped in there?

I had a whine coming from my primary, but it was only on decel. If I pulled in the clutch, it went away. It turned out to be the inner primary bearing. I addressed it ASAP, so maybe that's why it wasn't constant for me.
