Default Batwing on Deluxe...

I have had my Batwing for a month now and wished I had picked it up a few years ago. Went for a day-long ride yesterday, occasionally at 70 MPH, and can't believe the difference compared to the windshield. I'm starting to like the look of it, but can't believe the difference in the ride!

Nice! Have been looking at these. What make did you get? Do you notice any flex or movement going over bumps? Did you paint it or is that a gel coat?

I have been thinking of this for my Deluxe but I don't know if I could get used to the somewhat blocked view. I have the clear Nostalgic shield which blocks the wind quite well and I like the full vision of the road the shield gives. The batwing does look good on the Deluxe though. Any problems getting used to the batwing from the standard shield.

What brand did you go with? It looks excellent.

I went with the Memphis Shades Bat Wing. I had a few slight issues with the mounting brackets lining up, to accommodate the trigger release. Now it literally pops on and off like my Harley windshield did... It has a whole range of possible adjustments, to gain your optimum preference of wind flow. I too was concerned about the change of vision range, because I have no experience with fairings... It is literally nothing less, no difference at all. The quality of the finish is perfect, for a black bike, and I am not painting it. I have not noticed anything regarding any adverse response to the wind, any movement at all, any vibration... except a sparrow caught the wind flow and traveled over my head with no contact!

In summary... My Deluxe is in for service today and I have a loner bike. It's 80 degrees for the first time this spring, and I am only riding the 2014 Fat Boy loaner for five miles from the dealer today, and back tomorrow, because I love the ride with the Bat Wing.. It is that much better!

I can't believe how much more enjoyable my ride is with the bat Wing, and I really like the look of it!

I've never seen a fairing I liked, but I have to admit, I saw a Deluxe with a Batwing Fairing and hard bags last weekend, and it was some good looking scoot. Looked a lot cleaner than the Touring models. I can't see me doing it, heck I don't use my windshield except for long trips (& that's just in case it rains during the trip), but I'm happy you're enjoying it. Ride Safe on that day in July they call "Summer" up there

Nice to see a local NH guy on here. I'm from Hampton originally.

I've been thinking of doing this with my Fatboy. What else do you need to purchase in addition to the Batwing? What would you say the total investment is? I ride with a guy who has a Street Glide and it just looks like he's always more comfortable and out of the wind when we ride.

Man that looks good. I've been fighting the urge to put a fairing on my Heritage. I had one on my dyna from Memphis shades. I too liked the ride with it on there even compared to the windshield. If I do put a fairing on my heritage, I think it will be one with a stereo or at least speakers and an amp with Ipod hook up. Been looking at the Reckless fairings.

I just put one on my standard, took it for a quick ride notice the difference right away. Had the same issues with the mounting of the Memphis shades batwing, a few washers did the trick goes on and off with no problem. It is in the shop being painted now, will post pictures when I get it back. Can't wait to get it on the highway. Makes the bike look totally different. What size windshield did you get with your ? talked me into a 9 inch, but it's way too tall sent it back for the 5 inch.. Might consider getting the speakers with the iPod for it next

My total cost was $523.16. That included the fairing, the trigger release mounts, 7" windshield, and three pouch windshield bag. Ordered through Seacoast Harley, with MVP discount of 11%. Next day delivery on each order (Fairing and brackets initially, then windshield the following day, after measuring...), at no extra cost.

I returned the Fatboy today and never got to enjoy trying it out. My sunglasses were terrible with the wind and anything over 40 MPH caused extreme tearing.

PM me if you want to check mine out before ordering one...
