Default Deer!!!

I just commented on another thread about head lights and it came to me that this is a worthy thread and posting, especially to anyone who lives in rural America or travels it. I hit a Deer last year on my last ride of the season last year. Trust me, you don't want to hit a Deer.

A Deer is a very stout animal, very! I got as lucky as lucky can be. My bike got nearly zero damage and I didn't go down. My left leg, hip and right foot? I thought they were ripped off. If you have ever noticed or given it any thought, Harley head lights are crap.

So, to all my Brothers and Sisters in riding, get some light out in front of you. I'm in search of a new light before my bike hits the road again, I have about 10 day's to 2 weeks to decide. As soon as I know which way to go I hear or read something and it confuses me again.

I hear issues on it ranging from it not fitting well in the headlight bucket, getting to hot or a pain in the A$$ to install. I would like a light that really put's out there without any of those issues. I want to be able to see them sooner and better my chances of stopping in time or to dodge it.

Get some light out in front of you guys. It's a very safe and cheap thing to do considering. I always thought my skill would get me through anything like that. $hit, I didn't even have time to say "OH ****" or hit my brakes. That's how fast it happens. If you ride 2 up with your wife or your girl, do her a big favor too and get some light out in front of you and get her and yourself home safe and sound.

A simple, inexpensive, and easy to install fix is an Adjure light with an Osram Nightbreaker bulb. It may not be as bright as some others you will hear about, but it's a world better than the stock unit.

Deer are definitely crazy!! I was coming home from night shift one morning and the dam deer jumped the guard rail right next to me and hopped over the front of my bike. It was like in that point of time everything slowed down for a split second and I was in the friggin matrix or something I steered and leaned and did something and barley missed it! And then keep riding like nothing happened! I dont know if I was that tired or In shock!!.LOL. ..

Help me understand how a bigger, brighter headlight will help with deer. *MOST* of the folks that I know that have hit a deer say it came out of nowhere, and the OP even said he didn't have time to say O-S or anything. I don't want to offend, just asking on how it will help. If it helps, yay, I'll get a better light, because I've never hit a deer and never want to either.

Right now I have this http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/321396297254?lpid=82 from Autozone, and that was $50 for a two-pack. They seem pretty amazingly bright, but I'm always open to options.

helps see them off to the side before they cross the road will not help if the jump from brush.have you ever saw deer in a field then look and see them 10' from the road that's when it helps.I live out towards the sticks so lots of open fields with the stock light at night I could see maybe 10' on either side going 40mph with the LED I can see out to 20' plus

I def need something brighter for my softtail custom, i`m reading up on options now. The deer situation is tuff, like most of us I`ve seen my share on the side or up ahead on the road, allowing me to slow down. The deer that scare me are the ones the come running right out at you with zero warning and not enough time to say oh ****!

This is the front of my Heritage. All the lights are LED's. There is always plenty of light in front of me.

All of that being said, I always try NOT to ride after dark, but even that is no guarantee you won`t encounter a deer. I`ve seen them jump out in broad daylight, but most of the time you can see them soon enough in the daytime to react.
