Counter clock with the wrench on the nipple,, its a right hand thread unless it something non stock..
just ping the spoke as you go and you'll know fast if it getting tighter of looser..
also sneak up on them.. don't just start at one and work your way around the wheel.. do a couple on one side, then roll the rim around 180* and do a couple.. then 90* and so on until you've work all the way around the wheel.. Its easy to get one out of round and not true if you rush it..
