I'll see if we can maybe get some definite measurements between the stock and DG seat this weekend.
That would be GREAT, as the loal custom seat maker can't even look at my project until end of July. If I knew for CERTAIN that the Danny Gray offering would move me forward compared to the stock seat, I would buy it, because I do like the appearance they achieved while providing that massively comfortable looking passenger seat!

Could you possibly PM me about it, in case I miss the posting?

I just realized I could probably ask Danny Gray, so I called them. They say that all their seats move the rider (i.e. the driver, not the passenger) down and rearward. This is the exact opposite of what I need - I need to go forward, so that seat is not going to work for me.

So. Here's my update after I've done some more riding with my OL. Over the weekend we did two trips of 4 hours each. According to my wife the custom pillion is a tremendous improvement over the stock pillion.

With the stock seat her behind started hurting already after 30 minutes. After 1 hour she felt like having to get off the bike immediately and never being able to get back on again. Plus she felt very uncomfy during the ride 'cause of sliding back and forth all the time when I would accelerate or break. When going over hard bumps she even felt her backbone hurt up to her neck.

Now with the thicker padding there are no more problems when riding on a bumpy road....no more pain in her back. The padding combined with the gel pad also makes the seat much more comfy in general. Now she can stand 2 hours riding without a break. Then after a 10 minute break she's okay with another 2 hours.

I need to point out that it was only her third time riding as a passenger on the Breakout. So she will need to do a couple more rides to get used to it in general...

For me the situation during 2-up riding has improved as well 'cause it can be quite irritating if you feel the passenger behind you sliding back and forth all the time kinda bumping into you each time you break. Also the passenger doesn't tend to move around behind you due to feeling very unconfortable...

So the conclusion is that it was worth spending the money on the custom seat ... the wife is happy
