hi all
i posted this on the tech forum a few days ago and had no luck so i thought i would try it on here.
im looking into a new exhaust for my fat boy and planning on straight pipes, originally was going for big growl down'n'outs with torque cones but have decided to go for freedom performance declaration turn outs instead.
the one thing i have noticed on the exhaust is they mention 'steps'. the pipes im looking at are 2 step and there are others which have 5 steps.
so can some one explain to me what they mean by steps, is it good is it bad? would i still need torque cones? are more steps better?
im going to be installing a screaming eagle heavy breather with the exhaust (hopefully a freedom performance declaration turnouts) and remapping with a V&H turner as well once all is installed.
Not all steps are created equal, and more isn't always better. If you're after straight out performance consider a 2:1. (SuperTrapp and Thunderheader have always made good power for me) A 2:2 usually suffers at lower RPM (comparatively speaking) - a well designed 2:1 should keep you pulling hard through the entire range.
Those Decel Turn-Outs do look bad *** though - I'll give them that.
