Anyone put a 21" front wheel on a Fatboy? I'm ordering a set of black powdercoated spokes and I'd like to do a 21/18 setup. I have a smooth Heritage style front fender. Will the wheel clear this fender? Any pics would help. Thanks.
This is not my bike, but it looks as if it has the same components (i.e. fatboy with a 21" wheel and heritage softail fender) that you are wanting to run on your bike. Hopefully this will help in your decision making process.
I asked the same question about my fatty. I was told that the 21/18 combo will work with the heritage fender and stock rear. I just can't remember what size tires they said to run.
My Deluxe has 21" front with 120/70-21 and my 18" rear (wheel!!) has 150/70-18 Metzler ME880's.
CNC Wheel Guy went with the same but Avon Venom's.
No real riding time on either of them yet, thanks to living in NH.
But, there were no bike modifications to make these work.
We both have FL front fender, not fat boy front fender.
Good luck!
Funny you should ask as I thought that the 21" was just too skinny, so I tookthe little thing that was supposed to be a fender, and the wheeloff and put on fatboy front fender that matched my paint set perfectlyand a 16 inch chrome thunder-star wheel on my 99 fxstc and it made it look real "beefy"; get lots of compliments on the arrangement.
Also got rid of those dorky very obtrusive front turn signals and went with the kuryakyn turn signal mirrors.
Really cleaned up the front end.
I had a 17 on the rear and a 21 on the front and changed both to 18's.I found the handling
was much better with the 18's.Check a rake and trail calculator to check the difference the wheel
diameter will make.
