Ride will be slightly harsher...and you will bottom out sooner. But don't let that worry you. The look is awesome and you don't have to blow $1300 to get that look.

FWIW to the more level headed folks...I've never said anything against the SS...I've even said in the past that it's a good product. My only issue...I just can't see spending that kind of coin on shocks.

But thanks Midgard...for turning yet another lowering thread about a different product into an SS debate. Good grief...it never ends.

I can't wait for Gohoticov to show up. LOL.

You need to give your head a shake Burrito............ take a good look how this played out.

...and here comes the cavalry with the name calling right on queue.

Funny...I don't remember saying anything about "affordability" in my case. I'm a 6 figure earner. ****...that makes me a RUB I suppose. LOL.

I see you avoided my point.............glad you realized you started this crap. (trust me I get annoyed as well when every lowering bolts thread gets turned in the SS - I just didn't appreciate the way you "took a jab at it" for no reason - thus turning it into a SS thread)

OP - back to your original post. The kit is a nice way to go, and as Burritto pointed out it is easy to install and will give you the result you're looking for

I must have missed the boat long ago. I thought "modifications" were done to improve a bikes performance, not take away from it. Not 1 single mod to my bike has done anything but improve it. I had the lowering bolts on this bike when I got it before I had the SS and I couldn't get them off fast enough, it ruined the suspension on the bike.

Never would I do anything that took away from my bikes performance, comfort and safety and have it constantly bottoming out pounding the **** out of me AND the bike. I knock no one for their decisions they choose for their bike but don't do this thinking it's an improvement. If you ride 2 up, uhg!

Again, there are still those who think that the SS is just a ton of money to lower and raise their bike at the flip of the switch. It is so much more than that. Its about handling various road conditions, various surfaces wet or dry. Comfort, solo or 2 up. Lifetime warranty that is transferable to a new bike should you get one. Looks and most important, safety.

Not only will you get none of those with lowering bolts, they take away from all those on your stock suspension. Now, if you want lowering bolts I support your decision 100%, just make sure your informed about them and the consequences.

EDIT: This isn't "RaRa" it's facts to help others make an informed decision.

I see this everywhere around here, like over on a FuelPak 3 thread where some people are prolonging it just by chiming in and constantly bashing it to anyone who replies positively, even though they don't have one and never used one.
Oh well, makes them feel good I guess, being as they're only trying to justify spending far more for essentially the same results...

in my case, i have not bottomed out, and it really isn't THAT poor of a ride. as far as an improvement, to most it is merely an improvement on looks alone, and i don't really see anyone putting the bolts or collars on thinking its a performance improvement.

No...I ignored your point because you were DEAD wrong but didn't want to carry on making a mess in this thread. I didn't even mention SS in my initial post...

Here...I'll spell it out for you to be CRYSTAL clear.

The Platinum shock kit retails for $1300.

http://platinumairsuspension.com/pro...idehd-evo.html

The SS kit retails for $1550.

I basically said you don't have to spend a ton of money (or effort) to get the lowered look. You're the one who got all butthurt about SS.

SS must stand for Super Sensitive for some of you guys....

I was hoping to get some better testimonials out of this than reading a bash fest. Sometimes this forum, and any forum at that, is so discouraging. 😕

I'd love a SS. Had legends on my dyna because SS didn't make a set up. Again. I have the money for it right now. Just don't feel like dropping so much coin on it. Cost vs use for me.

I have the softalloweringkit on my breakout. While I'm sure they SS kits are great, I felt the ride on my softail was just fine, and only wanted it lowered a bit. It was easy to install, ride quality didn't seem to suffer much (if at all?) and it's a seriously cheaper alternative. The kit serves the purpose I need it to, and I'm ok with that.
