seen some posts about this in the past. heards heritage bars are the way to go...
just wondering what fatboy owners out there have for handlebars and the pros/cons,
looking to get different bars 'cause mine kink my wrists by the end of a full days ride
I always had a lot of shoulder fatigue with the stock Fat Boy bars, even after I added 2 1/2" risers. So I kept those risers and put Heritage bars on the bike. Much more comfortable and I don't feel like I'm reaching forward to hang on to the bars.
Check-out the Wild 1 Bars, www.wild1inc.com. I put the W0508 bars on and really helped with the riding position. Their site has pics of before and after. Hardest part was running the wires inside the bar.
Just a comment on the Heritage bars....they are really comfortable and the height and angle seems just about right for anyone, but I wish they had less angle (back) on the grips, because I can develop a "kink in the wrist" as well.
One friend of mine put the Heritage Classic bars on his Fatboy and he loves them. He was able to use the stock cable lengths but he did have to move one bracket a little. Another friend of mine rides a Heritage Classic and took the factory bars off. When I asked him about buying them for my fatboy, he told me that I'd regret it because he hated them. My suggestion is to find someone with them on and ask for a test ride. That's the only way to know for sure.
Mine has the mini-apes and I find them pretty comfortable. They originally were straight up to align with the front forks and I did get some fatigue during long hauls...they made me reach. I adjusted them back a little and it's much more comfortable.
Heritage bars... That's what I did... Love it. Sorry for the poor picture quality.
However, I'd love to have thick chrome bars without the holes and with hidden wiring with the exact same geometry.
CLOSEST thing I've found is the WO515 (I think)... I'm considering doing a swap 'someday', when I get around to it.. maybe a good winter project to go with the chrome forks.. yeah!
i would do th fattest drag bars you can get which i believe ar inch and a half, or apes.........I had inch and a half carlinnis on my fatboy and they were great put many a mile and was never uncomfortable
