Default interchangeable parts

I have a 94 heritage soft tail classic. That I have put late model saddlebags and a late model seat on. After a ton searching I finally found a set of after market bag guards. Thats great right!?!? No because the bags that were supposed to be on my bike from the factory are smaller than the late model bags. I am assuming that the gaurds for the 1994 will not fit now because of the bag change but I am not for sure? Does anyone have any information about this? Will the late model saddlebag guards fit my 1994 ? If not perfectly how much modification would be needed? Has anyone done this before? Thanks in advance for any help
