I don`t have any of the noise described here on my bike. Of course, I`ve always used 20/50 synthetic oil in the engine.

The 103 sounds like a freaking sewing machine.

Just to be clear, you're implying it's a quiet runner right? I've heard both loud and quiet sewing machines.

From what a couple of wrenches in my HOG chapter tell me, Amsoil should do the trick...
Been said MANY times in here that Syn oils of ANY brand will usually be a tad bit louder than Dyno oils in the same weight..

Any 20-50 Syn oil, like - Syn3, Amoils, Moble1V-twin, Castor, Whatever oil you use,, if it a True Syn oil you will get almost the exactly same results...

use a straight 50 or 60 Hd oil,, and you'll have even less tappet noise, but I wouldn't advise that in a TC engine...

You have to remember that the 103 softails have the B motor which has more mechanical noise that a 103 non B motor.
The B motors have additional moving parts in the engine and your most likely hearing that.

My new 14 Breakout has that very loud sewing machine sound coming from down by the primary. Its not as bad since I put the new pipes on but still noticeable. I'll see what happens at the 1K mile service when they switch everything to Syn3
