Hi, my name is Mike and I'm a fairly new member. My trikes base bike is a 99 Ultima widetire softail. Am now having starter difficulties. The jackshaft comes out and turns but is like an extra loud dead battery clic. Clutch assembly does not turn and then jackshaft does not retract. Any thoughts on what the problem could be? Please help as I have a minimum experience even though I put the original bike together from a kit.

Did this just start happening? Or was it working and now it is not working?

 

Yes, it was Starting fine and now it is being a pain and won't start.

 

Did the starter possibly come loose and shifter too far back? If not, I would say it is time for a new starter.

 

Yes, I thought it might be the solenoid.
