Starter problems
Hi there, can anyone help with a problem Ive got, the bike is a 1986 FLH but have got a problem with the starter not disengaging, just keeps running, previous owner had fitted a battery isolation switch on the lead from the solenoid to starter, they put a new solenoid on, checked on bench, works fine, new pinion clutch fitted to starter. Would appreciate any tech info and like to hear from anyone that has had a similair problem. Many thanks

Make sure that all electrical connections are clean and secure and that the battery is in good health and fully charged.
Starter run on can be a symptom of a weak battery or a bad connection (with this starter configuration).
It is also common for starter run on to occur when the engine is cranked by the starter, with spark plugs removed.
You also might want to get inside the primary and have a look at the starter bendix mechanical parts, to be sure they are ok.
