Default Easy solution to buffeting

Get some mustache guards. Prop your feet up and ride when the buffeting gets bad. Your legs block the wind coming up from below, which is the cause of most buffeting. I do it all the time. No buffeting.

Glad it works for you.

I ride all the time with my feet on my Hi-Way pegs.. but its doesn't really make much diff at all for me.

One thing I've found is if you put your left arm across your belly, Parallel to the ground.. That for me cuts out more buffering than having my legs near the tank.

my next mod will be the Fangs...

Yeah, probably won't work with pegs. But with the mustache bar, when you put your feet up, your legs are up high enough that it blocks the wind from down low. I've done that thing with the left arm across your belly - it works but you get tired of holding your arm there. With the mustache bar, you can ride for hours with your feet up and no buffeting, til you hit traffic of course.

I had fangs with a windvest on my old bike, worked OK, but not really all that well. I think you might need a full-size windshield for the fangs to work best.

There used to be a company that made jackets and vest with flaps built in that would rise up and block the wind when it was coming up from your legs.
Just like using your arm.

I have the moustache guard on my Heritage. I have the soft lowers on my bike and they do a great job of keeping the baffling away.

Ok, I been riding for years, but NEVER heard the term buffeting. Would you mind explaining that one to me?

I think its a fancy way of saying that the wind and air hit you when you ride.... I always thought it was just part of riding. If I dont want the wind in my face I get in the cage.

Its not just the wind.....its the more of an "air tunnel" created by windshields and front forks pushing the air around the front lower part of the bike and it comes up in front of your feet and usually hits people in the chest of chin area.

A bike with no shield doesn't usually create buffeting.

That being said, I rode a bike the other day with the fangs on it and holy crap it made a huge difference....my bike will be getting them soon.

I think it seems to be worse if you wear a helmet. It's not the air/wind hitting you it's how it bounces your head around.
Had a wideglide with a shield and it would bounce my head around so much I couldn't see straight and my neck would ache after riding.
I ended up just taking the shield off and eating bugs and the head buffeting was gone.
