Default Shotgun shock height

For those of you with shotgun shocks, how low will you set them to ride?

I installed them, and have a RSD tracker fender and bottomed out a lot. I see guys say they ride it slammed low....maybe I have the rebound set wrong, but thought I had it as stiff as it would go.

There is no "setting" so let me know how many inches your fender is above your tire????

I have mine set just around stock height, maybe slightly higher. Softies are low enough as it is. Perhaps those other guys don't go around corners?

Stock height here as well - never more than 1" lower.
I got it for the ride, not the looks...

You guys at stock height, can you set it pretty soft without bottoming out?

As you go lower, the firmer (think preload) you have to have to avoid bottoming out. I tend to ride my softer on the motorway (freeway) and then stiffen up when moving to windy roads, but keep the ride height the same

When you say bottom out, is the tyre hitting the fender, or are you hitting the bump stop?

Gotcha. You shouldn't set it up so that it can hit or rub the fender or wiring when or before sitting on the bumps. At least if you can run it on the bumps you can ride somewhere to have the problem fixed should the shock fail.

I know with my stock fender there's no way of the tyre hitting the guard, even after I've shaved the bump stop in half. I wouldn't of thought you could setup an RSD fender to hit the tyre either?
