I'm looking into doing an audio system on my Deluxe and was wondering what everyone else is using? I guess bluetooth would be the easiest but if anyone has something in a custom nacelle I'd love to see it.
Ear buds with rubber seats to hold them in my ear (~$10 skull candy ones from target) and my iPhone. The rubber surround cuts down on wind noise but still allows me to hear the bike, and I don't have to have my music loud to hear it.
I usually don't listen to music while riding, however when I do IMO bluetooth ear buds is the only way to go.
I use Plantronics BackBeat Go2 with a half helmet and Sena SMH-10 with a 3/4 helmet while on trips.
I concede that there are some systems better than others but there is no external speaker audio system out there that puts out quality sound while on a motorcycle at 70 mph that beats a $100 ear bud system and the SMH-10 system is tops as far as a helmet system is concerned.
If you do select an external system, be considerate to those riding with you and don't use it in a group.
Nobody wants to hear your obscured audio.

iPhone with earbuds or my BT helmet. No one else wants to listen to my music. That's the worst thing about baggers. They all think that everyone else wants to listen to their music (yes I am stereotyping)
I have the HD Boom Speakers that attach to the windshield. I can hear them on the highway fine over my exhaust. I have the 29" Samson true duals so that helps allow me to hear the music because the exhaust is behind me.
