Default Thanks for the replies!

Thanks for all the replies.

I ride a solo seat on my RK and it kind of helps with the "in the bike" feel vs the "on the bike" feel I get with the touring seat. Little disappointed to hear the Bal engine is robbed of power but its just a little I guess there is still plenty. If the Softails ride as smooth as everyone says then no biggy.

I have ridden many bikes where too me the steering just feels too heavy. Especially metric bikes. The RK is very balanced I hope the Slim feels that way too. Being 5'8 my RK is sometimes a bitch to park, I am use to it but with the Slim I imagine rolling that thing around will be way easier.

I will say that riding my buddies Dyna is what got me thinking I might enjoy a lighter bike were the weight to power ratio is different. My 88ci TC 06 RK has 211 cams with 88ft lbs of torque it weights 750, the Slim is 705. I was thinking of a new SG it weighs 810. But as i mentioned previously most of my rides are less than hour these days.Yeah sure I want to ride further more, just difficult to get away.

Softail seems like a better best of both worlds choice. They have always been the best looking HDs too me. Slim will still work fine when I do go on longer rides. My buddy has ridden his FB all over America and Europe.

Can not wait to get out of Asscrackistan and do a test ride. Hopefully late Oct is a good time to buy.

Sounds like you might be happier on a Dyna.

I had the Motherwell rack on my Slim and it easily accommodated my gym bag or gear for a few day trips.

It screwed on and off without any issue either and never scratched a thing. They are relatively inexpensive and in my opinion actually really suit the lines of the Slim.

Stay safe. Been there a few times myself so know the frustration of waiting to get home to get back on the bike.

Don't do anything till you get back and have a chance to test ride several models. To many people make mistakes otherwise that are expensive.

Consider a Switchback. There you have the best of both dressed and naked in just a few seconds. It is also lighter than the touring bikes so is quicker and its CHEAPER. And you can DEAL because they don't sell well.

What the previous poster did on the Slim is the only way to carry anything. The Breakout is also a sharp looking bike you cant carry anything on.

Think and test ride before you drop $$$$.

I agree with the guys above, test ride. Had a fxdl I swore would never have bags because of the cool factor. After 6 yrs or so, bought leatherpro bags and fell in love with the bags and the looks. They never came off after that even though they have the best quick release system on any bag.
