Hello fellow riders just got my 2009 crossbones and having difficulty finding my shifting rithym I usdually go
1st 0-20mph
2nd to 3rd 20-35mph
3rd to 4th 35-45mph
4th to 5th 45-55mph
5th to 6th 55- cruise
Am I doing the shifting right? Thanks in advance.
You're thinking about it too much. Just shift where the bike feels like it needs to shift. It's a "feel" thing. Same as a car.... Don't over rev.... don't lug it. Keep riding, you'll feel it.
I agree with Detroit Iron ,do not watch speedo just listen to motor .It may take a little bit but you will get it . What you are doing is a good base line I guess . You would be better off having a tach.Shift at 3 or 4 thousand rpms unless running hard. Like Detroit said dont lug motor wind it out a little . Good Luck it will be second nature the more you ride.
I dont have a speedometer, that is how important they are!!
Just ride by feel bro. One thing about Harley is the low end torque is crazy. You can get away with shifting early and just rollin on the throttle. They pull like crazy. Have fun.
i agree with the guys above about shifting when it sounds and feels good. where you currently shift is pretty much where i shift at myself. it's usually around 3000 rpms in every gear plus or minus depending on the terrain. i usually put the bike in 6th at 61 or 62 when the road is fairly flat for cruising and to squeak that few extra miles per tank. it's about the same rpms as 5th at 55 mph.
