Did the MSF Basic course within a week after delivery. It was pretty basic until the 2nd day, then the exercises got tough and I'm danged glad I did it. First week, I nearly dumped my bike trying to do a 180 on a back street. Second week, after the course, I did a slow turn within the curbs and never felt awkward. Best $150 I spent... and I was well prepared for the written exam to add my M endorsement.
I did two things to mine in the first couple months. One, at the 1000 mile check I put synthetic oil in the engine. BIG difference! Engine ran much easier. I shift by engine RPM sound and immediately noticed that the 5th to 6th shift point had moved 10 MPH higher. Second, the rear shift peg kept hooking my boot so I removed it and put on the $30 shift peg cap to cover the shift post.
Am waiting to hear when HD will offer the new 2-up detachable Tour Pak bracket so we can mount the Tour Pak. Anyone heard anything on that?
The first thing you have to do is explain to your wife that it is legally mandated North American wide that you MUST spend at least $3K on add ons, within the first two months of finalizing your purchase. (And a minimum of $2K every year thereafter...)
Congrats on the new Fat Boy! As you can see...most of us are a little bit biased on this section about our choice of motorcycles!
Changing the pipes, upgrading to a Screamin' Eagle Stage I, and adding a PCIII is the first thing that many of us do...oh, and a new part time job to help support the accessory addiction that will soon come over you!
Thanks WARG!!
It is a Harley Factory Custom. Bar and shield logo is on the bottom right side of the gas tank. Kandy Apple red with gray granite flames. After a good coat of wax the paint job looks three inches deep.
On bike night I've watched many people walk up and rub their finger on my front fender!![sm=badbadbad.gif]
They then ask if it's a sticker!! Hello!! Ask me first!!
