Thanks, appreciate it.

Similar story here.Had a Road king Classic for 6 yesrs and loved it but got bored with it.Most riding was local stuff, and I ride solo.Wanted somthing sporty. Bought a Street Bob.Great bike but after a year relized I missed a windshield and Bags.Went on a Fla.trip and rented a Herritage for a week. When I got home.Traded in the SB for the HSC and never looked back. The bike handles great. Can remove the bags and windshield when I want.Ride with the solo seat but can go two up if I need to.
Btw.I also loved the look and the ride of the older model Fat Bob,and originally was gonna trade in the SB for the FB,but after that week in Fla.on the HSC I was like "why am I trading in one Dyna for another?,Im gonna have the same issues".So IMO a softail is a great ride and recommend it.I have no regrets.

The boards hang lower and you have less clearance, but IIRC, the Deuce has one of the greatest lean angles of the Softails and even more than some dynas. You scrape other hard parts before you scrape the pegs, generally.

Cool, thanks. Since the Deluxe comes lowered plus has the floorboards, one would think I'd be scraping all the time. But I haven't yet, not once. Then again, I poke around like an ol' lady. I'm just never in a hurry.

I switched from a 95 dyna low rider to an 05 Fatboy. I would not go back. Yes I could toss around the dyna in the curves but the fatboy handles well enough. I like the fat front tire vs the skinny tire better....I think it tracks better. As others have said you sit IN a soft tail as opposed to sitting on a dyna.

I can tell you first hand why I switched BACK to a softail, I started on a 2009 Superglide years ago (never should have sold that bike) coming off of a R6 it was a good transition. After I rode for 6 months I really wanted a spinger, found one it was 06 springer classic very cool bike modded it and then feel in love with a 07 deluxe modded it and 6 months later I bought a 2012 street glide dumped a ungodly amount of money into it and sold it..I am now back on a 05 fatboy, Botom line is EVERY bike is going to handle different and its difficult to say if you will like a softail or any other model you want, Maybe you can rent a heritage for a day and see if you like the way it handles in the twisties. I for one can ride just as hard as I did on my Dyna with all the bikes mentioned above. I laugh at guys that drag there boards and try to tell me that they corner harder than me bottom line its all about how you enter and exit corners..Any bikecan be pushed around corners its all about how hard you want to push them. I went to a softail because I wanted the rigid look and the comfort of suspension, You want a bike that can run the twisties get a late 80's FXR no better bike made period..

I had a Switchback for a year and hated it.
Besides the fact that it was in the shop more than my garage, it had an unbearable vibration between 2500-3000 RPM that rendered the mirrors useless. It was so bad that it would cause my vision to blur - It also caused my hands to go numb after a half hour.
<<All thanks to the first year model quirks, in this case the mounting system for that huge 2-into-1 muffler.
Add to that an incompetent dealer that really FUBAR'd a warranty belt replacement job and that was enough for me.
I traded it in on a Slim and never looked back.

15min. test ride is enough to help when choosing a bike.
Just traded my Seventy Two for a Slim. Loved the sporty, but the Slim is much more useful.

I have been riding since the mid 60's and have had all Harley frames at one time or another. In my opinion the Heritage Softail is the best all around Harley for me and my style of riding.

Soooo, you're not supposed to be dragging the floor boards? Oops!
