I was out on my weekend ride and had come down the Dragon through Robinsville on 129 and on through the Nantahala Gorge when I cam upon a bike crash. It was where 129, 74, & 129 all come together. There was a flatbed farm type truck and the bike was under the front of the truck. There was what I assume was the rider laying about 50-60 feet away. A lot of bikers had stopped and First Responders with the Fire Department were on the scene. I didn't stop, because of the already congested scene. I hope the rider was ok, but it looked pretty bad. If anyone has any information, I would be interested. I hate to see anybody go down.
Passed thru 2 accidents today myself Luke. 1st one on 276 just off the Parkway, Crotch Rocket, the rider was being attended to and was sitting upright. The second was on Hwy 11 just East of 276, the HwyP was on the scene, this one was a cruiser type Bike. The rider was alert and sitting up. One was killed yesterday at 485 and 77 in Charlotte.
I'm amazed I didn't see more accidents the way some folks were riding. I actually got worried a couple of times on the Dragon. Not from my riding but from peaple going way too fast and crossing the center line. I don't care how fast they go or anything else as long as they stay in thier own lane.
We also saw a rescue taking place on the river that runs alon 129 between the Dragon and Robinsville. His Kayak was pinned and bent over the paddler was out of the boat and appeared stuck in a keeper hole. An ambulance was pulling up as we came by. The guy looked in pain.
I told the guys last week when we pulled up to the Dragon, better ride the White line fellas. Not a lot of traffic during the week over there, but everywhere I went today, Bikes, cars and trucks were in my lane!
There was a poker run outta Cape Fear HD 390 + bikes I was told, I asked a guy how was it , he said one guy locked his front brake and went down, then later another braked really hard & 2 went into the ditch to avoid him, no one hurt I was told. Me and the wife stopped by HB Spokes on the way home saw a buddy who just witnessed a bike flipping through a field, he didnt have any information on the driver, When we were leaving HB`s a group of about6 bikes were in front of us waiting to get on hwy 9,guy just sat there up front,I`m reving engine nowcause their were planty of times he could have pulled out safley, finally he moves about2 feet and falls over with passenger on back, all his buddies jump off to help him up.Great day for riding, but another day that reminds you to be very careful out there..
