Default Bar Harbor, Myrtle Beach

Wife and I went down this weekend for our anniversary, went down Friday afternoon, came back Monday. Stayed at the Bar Harbor, south tower, room 644. This is listed as a Penthouse King Suite. Plenty of room but they forgot to finsish furnishing it. Had a king bed, a table and two chairs. There was room for two more king beds. There should have been a regular sitting chair or a small sofa. Wet bar consisted of a large sink, one each of knife, fork, spoon, plate, saucer, cup and drinking glass. Also a small microwave and a large refrigerator. On the counter was a coffee pot but no coffee or filters. Nice balcony overlooking the beach. Bathroom was big, had a nice jacuzzi tub, large walk-in shower with two shower heads, vanity and toilet.

On Saturday, the elevator was out all day ( remember, we're on the 6th floor) My wife has a problem with one of her knees from a car wreck years ago so this was a problem. When the maids cleaned the room thay forgot ot leave any towels. On Sunday after cleaning the room they forgot to re-stock the toilet paper. Big closet but only two hangers. No Iron or ironing board. Paid $1.50 for a Coke from the vending machine which didn't seem high until I bought one for $.50 at Myrtle Beach H-D.

Price for the room was reasonable but for something called a Penthouse King Suite, it was lacking. Carpet was way overdue for a cleaning. I know being on the ocean can cause issues with paint and the building in general but this place needs a little maintence.

I know some of you are staying here for Bike Week. Just wanted to give you a heads up on the amenities ( or lack of ) so the wives that are going will know what they need to pack.

I made my reservations for Bike Week here while I was down there -

Edit- One more minor inconvenience. The phone book in the room expired in April 2006. Because I had not been to Myrtle Beach in 10-12 years I didn't know Jammin Leather had moved to Highway 17 south so I went looking for them on 501 as was listed in the phone book.

Uh oh! I recommended this placeto ya'll.
Sorry, I didn't have those issues. My first room sucked but they changed it out for me and the rest of the weekend was okay.

The Days Inn at Surfside has coupons you can print off and the rooms are $59 Sun. thru Thurs. and $69 Fri. & Sat. We have stayed here before and it's a clean hotel with friendly staff. All rooms are ocean view and most have a small balcony. Covered parking under the hotel, and they supply towels to clean your bike. There is even a hose available. There are two bars within crawling distance of the hotel and an uncrowded beach as there are no other hotels nearby. It's about a mile from the Harley Dealership and about a mile from the new Jamin' Town! Great restaurant on the pier next door, too! That's where we're staying!

This could well describe Bar Harbor. The intent of my post wasn't to scare anyone away. I know there will be some of the ladies going and if they're like my wife, they want to know if there's a hair dryer and an iron in the room. For me, I can go to Bike Week with a few t-shirts and not really care if they have a few wrinkles.
