 \\;Heading out Friday for a week on the outer banks. I hear the wildfires are still burning in Hyde County, does anyone know how bad the smoke cover is across the sound going down route 12 to Hatteras?

It really depends on which way the wind blows. Seriously, not yanking you chain. I live about 80 miles away and the other night, visibility was down to nothing. Wind shifted and 2 hours later I was riding. I'd still go no matter what. You may have to parks and take a break for an hour or maybe too, but it won't last for long.

I'm a little north of the NC border in VA Beach, and depening on the direction of the wind some days there is smoke everywhere. \\; I hope they get it under control soon, because I want to ride to Hatteras next month myself.

I just cam back from Corolla, NC (northern OBX) and like every else has said, it really does depend which way the wind is blowing. There were some days it was really bad and others where there was nothing. I never had a problem wher I couldn't see but the smell could be quite strong at times.

I live in Camden, NC. \\; Just like everyone else said it depends on what direction the wind is blowing. The news said last night the smoke would proably last all summer, because it would take hurricane force rain to put the fire out.
