I rolled into MB early Friday morning and l left this morning. I can assure you it wasn't because of cops and all the city ordinances Have a 2 month old I would rather be with. SBB(old and new) were packed with cool people and beer. Saw a tribute AC/DC band at SBB and they were awsome! No more cops than usual and all the normal vendors were out and about. For those of you who cancelled... you really missed out. No blue haired politician gonna keep me from having a good time
I went down the MB today. Left around 8 am and back about 930pm. Lots of bike running up and down the beach in and out of city limits. I didn't see anyone get pulled over, however I did find out that the cops setup two check points where there were massive amounts of police with tow truck at the ready. On Friday over 70 tickets were issued for various violations, noise, proof of insurance, numerous tows and including several arrests. Don't know about Saturdays roadblock numbers. I personally spent a lot of cash in North Myrtle, Surfside and Murrels Inlet but not one dime in the city of MB although I did make a lot of noise there!
Anybody that stays away should be ASHAMED...Is the Harley Shop located in MB city limits? How about SBB, Iron Gate, Beer 30, HB Spokes ? I Don't Think So! What about the huge building Jammin Leather just finished..Who do you think they built this to serve...THE BIKERS, thats who! Oh, by the way, it is not in the city either...The best events of the Rally DO NOT take place in the City..Why hold these businesses responsible for the poor judgement of City Councel..If you stay away these businesses may fail.. who is responsible ? You or MB? Support the businesses and events that have made the Rally's the success they are..Taking your money elsewhere is not the answer...Spend your money in the areas outside the city limits.
I beg to differ. Those council members are elected, not appointed and who knows where those employees live and whether or not they played a hand in the electoral process.
The sad thing is that Surfside beach (jammin leather, etc. I'm pretty sure neither SBB is in surfside ) is now enforcing some of the same rules MB city council passed. So don't tell me about being ashamed.
