From Liberty to Asheboro. I'm gonna try to make that ride in the very near future. Maybe this Saturday or Sunday coming up if the weather is decent and it looks like it will be.
Send skootchnc a pm, he probably knows some very good country roads up your way. Or hook up with any of the Southern Cruisers chapters in either greater Raleigh or South Raleigh area. I'm sure they can direct you on a direction and distance.
If you go this weekend look at taking 42 out of Asheboro. I've heard that is a nice ride also.
Interesting... because 42 runs within about 4 miles of my house in Fuquay Varina. Maybe I'll take 42 out to Asheboro and then run the Old Hickory Rd out to Hickory and back, then 42 back home.

Hwy 42 East from you is a nice little ride with plenty of side roads to get lost on. Just break out your trusty N.C. Gazeteer Atlas and look for some topo changes and water.
