Default Western Arkansas advice

Hello all,

Making a road trip this weekend from Fort Worth to Arkansas.

Due to work getting a late start on Sunday so we are staying in Broken Bow, OK on Sunday. Then getting up Monday and riding to Mena to drop our gear off.

From there we're not sure where to go. From BB to Mena is about 90 miles so we are wanting about another 200 miles or so.

I wanted to ride the Pig Trail but I think that's going to be to much for one day. We have to ride back home on Tuesday.

Any recommendations?

Thanks

Cool Riding Arkansas

Devil's Den is a nice ride, not long but lots of switch backs and curves they some nice scenic.

Also check out Mount Magazine, highest point in Arkansas and would be nice this time of year.

Check out www.virtualhale.com/cruzn/arkansas.php I have some routes on there.

Pig Trail is a great ride, worth a trip but would be a full day from Mena.

Check out the Hwy 270 over into Hot Springs thru Ouachita Forrest. ( 160 miles round trip )

Thanks! i think the Pig Trail is going to have to wait as much as I would like to ride it I think coming from Broken Bow it would be too much.

I'll get your site pulled up and get a trip mapped out. The weather is looking pretty good this weekend and we can't wait.

Cruzn, you think a trip from Broken Bow to Mena, then on to Mt. Magazine over to Hwy 7 and back on 270 is doable in a day?

That would be a stretch unless your going to stay over near Mt Magazine.
If you ride the Talimena Trail which is 60 miles from Oklahoma into Arkansas. I'd take my time and stop at some of the overlooks.

I'd ride out Hwy 270 east into the Quachita Forrest. You couldn't go the whole way into Hot Springs but the ride would be nice.

Where are you planning on staying the night?

I’m doing a tour the week after next……staying two days in Hot Springs. I may have to head up to Mt. Magazine one of those days.

I need to figure out where all I’m going to ride to out of Hot Springs while I’m there……
