Great day for riding - enjoy the road! I also have a list of chores from wife and kids...don't know if I will get out but hope so. Ride safe!

I just got back from my first bike ride to Columbia to see my daughter who attends USC. Great weather! Hit Timms HD on the way, then had a beer at Bull Feathers' tiki hut. Once I got to Columbia, I went by Harley Haven and purchased an Gamecock HD t-shirt. I take the cage to visit her 'cause I usually have crap I need to take her, but the weather was too good to pass up the ride!

I'll be going there today as a matter of fact. Wife wants to look for some things. And my truck needs new speakers. As always, I will look at the bike stuff they have there.

Went riding yesterday. The destination was Scotts BBQ in Hemmingway. I took Hwy#6 to Santee and I-95 across Lake Marion. Then Hwy #261 to Brunsons Crossroads, just before the town of Hemmingway. Scotts was featured on the Food Network and was the subject of a newspaper article in the Myrtle Beach paper last week.

This is no fancy place by a longshot. It is a Black family owned country store and farm. It is take out and there is not much on the menu except pulled pork, chicken, and skins. I ordered 2 sandwiches at the takeout window inside the store. Served up by an elderly black lady, she weighed 1/2lb. of pork in styrofoam sandwich boxes and put 2 slices of Sunbeam loaf bread on top. I grabed a bag of skins and a Pepsi from the cooler, paid and went across the road to the dining area. It is an old run down shed in the barnyard with some old homemade picnic tables.

I went back towards Sumter. I was just crossing the I-95 overpass about 21 miles east of Sumter when my rear tire blew out. I had picked up a screw. I limped to a gas station and called HOG Roadside Assistance since I had used My AMA roadside twice last month. They sent a rollback and brought me home at no out of pocket cost to me. I was about due for a new tire anyway and had a new tire and tube at the house. I changed it out and the Street Bob is ready to go again.

I bought a set of mag wheels off a forum member here. I need to get off my butt and build them up and put them on the bike. If I had had tubeless tires on the bike I could have probly made it home just by adding some air. But I could have plugged it and been on my way in 15 minutes. I love the look of the black rims and chrome spokes but if you have a flat you are dead in the water. You ain't fixing it on the side of the road. I would hate to have to pay a shop to remove the rear wheel and replace a tube or maybe a tire and tube.

Gus, just out of curiosity, how many miles did HOG take you and your bike, did they take you too or just the bike?

I think it was about 60 miles. They sent a rollback and picked me and the bike up. I asked them to take me home instead od the Harley shop. At first they said I would have to pay the extra mileage(11 miles) past Thundertower out of pocket but the driver said it was fully covered.

carry your card, you need that number or the Roadside assistance will be useless.
