Default Best route to Myrtle Beach?

Planning to ride from RI to Myrtle Beach for Bike Week and starting to plan our route.
First leg is RI to York, PA. Staying overnight and HD plant tour.
From there, could use suggestions - best route, places to stay/eat, etc.

Thanks!
Pat

wELL YOU CAN DO THE COAST OR THE FOOTHILLS...what are your plans....you want to get there fast or is time not an issue?... You could go through Maryland and take the coastal way...Hwy 13 down in NC you could take Hwy 12 to Ocracoke and take the ferry to Cedar Island then 70 to 24 to Jacksonville then 17 south to MB....

Or... My choice would be to go towards Gettysburg then to like Winchester Va then take like 340 or a road that follow close to I 81 south to 52 south to around Winston Salem NC then to around Florence SC then East to MB.....

You could also get on I 95 to I40 east to Wilmington NC then 17 south to MB....

Buy you an Atlas....look at all the roads state by state....

"Notgrownup" pretty much covered it, several routes from York. Pa to the outer banks of NC. You need to decide if you want the fast traffic filled route, or the slower less traffic route. From York you can take US30 west thru Gettysburg and continue west to I81 south, then to Fort Chizwell, Va and take I77 south to Columbia SC and then I26 east to Willmigton. This route keeps you out of DC, Baltimore and Richmond. I avoid I95 when possible, bad traffic and high risk. You may consider the Skyline Dr or Blue Ridge Pkwy accessed from I81 in several places. The Pkwy's are great but slow and a trip in themselves. Also go to www.touringdepot.com for additional tips.

I personally like this route the best. If you have time you can detour off of 81 and catch part of the Skyline Drive or BRP on the way down.

If you do decide to come out of Winston Salem NC i would take hwy 109s out of winston Salem. Hwy 109 has some good riding especially around the uwharrie national forest and Mt Gilead area then pick up Hwy 52 in Wadesboro NC to Florence SC.
