We liked it so much, we just bought a timeshare in North Myrtle Beach.
If the town of MB does not want my money, all the other surrounding cities do.
There are PROS & CONS to just about everything, and i refuse to let a few idiots ruin a great time that my wife and I, along with a bunch of our friends love to do.
If your BITCH is with the town of MB don't take it out on the other cities that really want us.
Just my 2 cents
They made it clear a few years back they don't want us there. I even had a personal email exchange with their City Manager confirming it. No thanks. I'll spend my money elsewhere...
"If there were any lingering doubts about whether motorcyclists would be welcome for the long-standing Myrtle Beach Bike Week in 2009, the citys mayor has made it clear that theyre not. According to the website Myrtlebeachbikerinfo.com, the mayor of the South Carolina coastal town, John Rhodes, declares that Effective 2009, Myrtle Beach, SC will no longer host motorcycle rallies. The website was designed by the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce and lists 15 new rules and regulations the City Council has come up with in order to deter the gathering.
Myrtle Beach is no longer the location for two long-running motorcycle events. After many years, our residents grew weary of three weeks of noise and traffic congestion each May, and they asked City Council to end the events. As a result, the Harley-Davidson Dealers Association Spring Rally and the Atlantic Beach Memorial Day Bikefest will not be held in Myrtle Beach, Rhodes wrote.
To discourage bikers, the city has implemented stricter noise and muffler rules, will be enforcing a helmet law within Myrtle Beach itself, has established rules against large parties in parking lots and has tightened curfews on juveniles. Increased police DUI checkpoints have been mentioned as possible points for sound emission tests as well."
Do you always do what other people tell you to do?? ....sorry couldn't resist!
I only went one year back in '04 and had a blast. It is my understanding it wasn't the main MBBW that they didn't want, it is the one that follows - BMBBW with all the "sportbikers". So they got rid of both.
If you have NEVER WENT how can you get on here and say anything about it. People need to come just stay out of MB if you want. Don't let a few people stop the fun come on down.((JUST MY 2 CENTS))
If I could understand the dates that most people that have attended the MBBW in the past will be there, I plan to go. Have been going since 1994 and never had this difficulty understanding the dates.
I am the secretary for the South Carolina State H.O.G Rally 2012. This rally is going back to the beach......NORTH Myrtle Beach for 2012.
We spoke to the city manager of Myrtle Beach in the beginning asking him to bring our event there. The Myrtle Beach City Manager said, they don't mind if bikers come to there city, but they will not host our organized event. Cut and dry, his words. So, off we went to North Myrtle Beach. The mayor, and entire city has welcomed us with open arms. The mayor of NMB rides. She has made us feel very welcome bringing our event to her city October 4 - 6
Myrtle Beach Bike Week West is where all the vendors will be located. Motorcycle Expo Friday March 2 & 3rd, 2012 Info here http://www.myrtlebeachbikeweekwest.com/
