My wife and I will be in Fla. in the middle of next month (Mar)with our sons college baseball team. I would like to rent a harley and do a 1 or 2 day ride, bringing my Roadking down from Mn is unfortunately not an option this time. Any suggestions on a nice ride and where to rent from is appreciated. We will be staying near Ft. Pierce.
I tell ya what - Shoot over to A1A and ride the coast in either direction. Can't go worng with a good coastal ride and since it's a rental - no worries about the salt air!
treasure coast harley is probably a good contact point. I don't know much about them, never been inside, just driven by a couple times. unfortunately I hear their prices (sales not rental) or high. anyway, come down a little early and take in some bike week stuff in and around daytona.
check out www.harleydavidson.com go the Fly & Ride section for a complete list of Dealer rental locations. A1A, the Ocala National Forest, Cedar Key, Key West, Naples on the coast. Just stay away from downtown Miami, Orlando and Tampa if can help it
I lived in FL and here is a rule to live by. Seriously, if you want to live... When your light turns green, wait at least 15-20 seconds and look real hard before going through that intersection. Early red is like yellow to the rest of the country.
A1A is ok too much traffic in the winter, but either the key west ride, or alligator alley seem more fun to me.

Good point about the red lights, also watch out for anyone making a u-turn, they always come out right in front of you and end up staying in your lane.
Just remember, when riding the coast, be very aware of draw bridges and the cross arms. Florida had to pay repairs to one of my bikes because of a defective warning.
My plan was to rent a bike in Stuart but after calling them today I found that they aren't renting anymore because of insurance reasons. I may be screwed now.
