Dont forget the Rexas State HOG rally in Abilene,tx in May...Abilene is a strange town and this should be quite a spectacle for folks here..We have a lot of riders but the town folk are a bit hipocritical and ??? It should prove to be interesting .None the less ,come on down .We have some great riding from15 miles out to 150 .As far as places to have a drink after hours, good luck. Most close at midnight and are crammed with college kids and yuppie wanna be,s .Mostly western music...if you want rock and roll, may be hard to find ...unless you know where to look .and there arent many. Our local PD supply a lot of riders and are a great bunch of folk ...We are centrally olocated and we are expecting a lot of riders due to close proximity to other large cities..harleyruiz,ill be looking to see you.!!!Hunt me down at Kents HD..
There is a new Holiday Inn express just up not 100 feet from Kents HD,s garage door .Plenty of restuarants within walking distance..Kents will have numerous events goimg on so it is an excellent location .The traffic around there is a little crowded but there are also other motel/hotels nearby ..The ride from the Austin area is a good one.Made it numerous times.Coming in from that direction, take the Catclaw exit off 83/84.Cant miss it..Look forward to trying to find everyone. I believe they have some good R&R bands coming in .I am part of the local HOG chapter and will be in on some of the planning stages so as I learn of anything new I will keep everyone posted .
Most of the activities will be at the Taylor County Coliseum and attached grounds.Quite large/Will need to preregister on line through the Natl.HOG site or at Kents HD in Abilene .Go the their website, kents cycles and click on the local HOG for details when the come available. You will probably be quicker informed from me a as I will post anything that comes up about the Rally. Were expecting close to 50,000 riders because of our location in Texas..easy to get to .
Texas HOG rally confirmed to be at the Taylor County Coliseum in Abilene. Coors will sponsor the Hospitality Room...They usually go all out with plenty of food and free beer..Closed event ..More to follow as it happens .
Did I say 50,000 riders ?? Meant more like 5000 ..oops Got my hopes up.Nothing new to post today. Some of the Docs I work with are riders and we are currently getting together an Aid station for the dreaded "Road Rash" and minor injuries .Working on the usual legalities at present but supplies are at hand.but we wont dwell on injuries .A lot of us are Medical folk so we are always prepared .We can even get a" Dust Off " quicker (circa Nam 70-71)..I would suggest getting lodging reservations early as possible. As I stated earlier there are many very close by to Kents, but the Coliseum is a fair distance away but easy to get on loop 322 ,probably 10 minutes or less away .There is a KOA probably 10 minutes away and a State park close by that has various types of camps..ie...some cabin type .not sure about how they will feel about all the bikes .Sweetwater Tx is 40 miles west and has a biker friendly lake and park .
