Default Hearts to Heroes Ride 2008 (Phoenix)

I originally put this underthe support our troops section, but I probably should have put it here instead.

Barry Caraway and cyclerides.com have once again put together what will no doubt be a great event.

Last year, literally THOUSANDS of bikes showed up for this. Many of the Active Duty, Guard, and Reserve went in uniform.Just check out the pics http://www.cyclerides.com/ridephotos/heartstoheroes07/page1/index.htm

Here's this year's info:

If you are Active, Guard, Reserve, or Retired and in the area, please feel free to meetup with us on Luke AFB. I'm leading a large group of Luke AFB motorcycle riders from the base to take part in the event. Here's our agenda:

Meetup Date: Saturday, 12 April 2008 (Wing PA will be there to take photos)
Meetup Time: 0800 – out the gate by 0830 (event starts at 1000, ride starts at 1130)
Meetup Location: BX/Commissary Parking Lot (it should be empty that early in the morning)
Attire: BDU/ABU/Flightsuit highly encouraged…. Civilian clothes authorized & standard M/C safety gear
Bring: $20 per bike + $10 per passenger and a small donation if you can
Who does this benefit: The US Military! Through these charities:
Packages From Home <http://www.packagesfromhome.org/>
Operation Homefront <http://www.operationhomefront.net/>
Freedom Is Not Free <http://www.freedomisnotfree.com/>

Please come out.

I was so looking forward to making this ride. With a son currently deployed, it really hits close to home. Sadly, my weekend will be spent working at the Tucson Home Show, trying to sell **** to people. [:@]

Well, we'll consider you there in mind, just not in body . We'll keep your son in our prayers.

Hey Kaz, just had a daughter assigned to luke. She won an 06 883 while deployed in Germany. But due to liscensing stuff, has been unable to ride it much. Got her scooter endorsement whle she was home before heading to Luke. I know shes wanting to ride, and would like to hook her up with some Air Force people there to guide her along. PM me and give me some info and I will pass it along.

Just a reminder and small update....

We'll be leaving the base at 0830 and there is a small group of civilian riders that will fall in with us as soon as we exit the gate. Everyone is invited.

Aslo...

(from Barry at cyclerides.com)

Since the Apache Attack Helicopter, which is made by Boeing right here in Mesa Arizona is such an important part of our military and is being flown and used by many of our Arizona National Guardsmen, I thought it would be appropriate to have them represented in the Cyclerides.com Hearts To Heroes event. So to kick off our ride this year we will be getting 2 low level flyover's of the entire line of bikes at CCV by two Apache AH-64 Helicopters flying in formation. I met with the pilot's today for a site survey of the church and they said to tell you that you do not want to miss this up close and personal display of the sound and power of the Apache Helicopter as well as the maneuvers that you will see. This is really an exciting opportunity for everyone to witness the superior equipment that our soldiers are using. The flyover will take place at precisely 11:30am which will signal the start of the ride.

I would encourage you to tell everyone you know that is not riding a motorcycle to line 67th Ave. from Happy Valley Rd. to the 101 and participate in support of this parade of motorcycles that are riding to support our United States Military. If you are riding, arrange for your kids to be brought out to see this event.
