Broken Arrow is a cool area, just up the road in Grove is Grand Lake and it pretty much rocks as well. I know Oklahoma and Texas are not known much for "twisties", BUT if you are really motivated to find them they are here.
Southeast Oklahoma offers some of the most beautiful rolling hills (and yes, twisties) you could hope to find.
There are some famous scenic drives near Beaver's Bend. In Kiamichi Country, the Talimena Skyline drive is virtually world-famous.....to folks who like to drive that is....
In the fall, the foliage is second to none, and with all the rain we've had this year, my bet is that the show Mother Nature puts on for us this fall will be one for the ages. I don't mean to sound like an ad for SE Oklahoma, but it is as close to heaven for us folks who appreciate good scenery and a few good bends in the road. On the Talimena drive, there are actually a few places the turns are so tight that you'll be able to check out your own tail pipes.......
Bottom line, SE Oklahoma is really worth the trip. Not many hotels, but there are several decent spots in the State Parks that offer affordable lodging.
Yet another Lawtonian here! I didn't realize this thread was still alive until I started running through it. Looks like quite a few from down in my neck of the woods.
