I read Harley was on strike for the past few months. My Nightster was built in February. I am guessing it was built before the stike...got me thinking that some bent employee was putting my bike together. "did I torque thatcrank bolt" "gee I don't remember I was too busy wondering if my healthcare benefits and my pay bump would come through onthelabor contract" screw it were goingon strike anyways! Who cares if the engine comes apart?
I was in the union, I know how pissy you can get just over the stress of contract negotiations and the possiblity of a strike and you just don't really have your attention of doing quality work.
Iwas a Teamster myself... frankly, I didn't think about it much when we were talking about striking. That had nothing to do with my performance. But that's just me.
glad to hear they were built in KC...People in KC are happy people, I think it is a pretty cool place to live.. York, not so cool (but a beautiful part of the US)..use to live there... Wisconson..great people...they know how to party but maybe to the point where the hang over from the night before may cause the bolts to not go on quite right. Ha ha Ha. Just a joke... I am impressed with HD...good stuff and it makes me feel warm and fuzzy going to bed at night knowing good American people built my ride!
The new contract pays newbe assembly people $20 an hour..there are not that many assembly jobs out there that pay that well,of course $5 an hour goes to union dues (sense my sarcasm).
