Possible Lifter Issue?
Hey Y'all. Got a 95 sporty i picked up after it bit a buddy of mine. Fixed her all up road it all season problem free with a total investment of 1200 bucks. Its a 95 1200, unknown mileage. It appears however my luck has run out. Took it out the other day for a putt and didn't make it far before i heard what sounded like the popping of an exhaust leak, not continuous but when i stopped there was another noise, sounded like an air leak. As the bike sits at idle bothe noises go away briefly. My though at this point having checked exhaust and intake bolts and compression is that I have a sticky lifter that may not be allowing the valve to seal completely. Just wondering if anyone has had a similar issue or can lend any insight. I've been working on a 78 lowrider my whole life and the sporty engine is an animal I'm still learning. Thanks!

I have never heard of the lifters sticking on these bikes, they do fail sometimes, and when they do they don't pump up and cause rocker arm noise.....maybe you have a bad head gasket that only leaks when its hot...other wise I got nothing...my next step after checking the intake and exhaust real good would be to start pulling the heads apart..
