Looking i to getting a set of air shocks for my nightster, but have only been able to find a set of -3 inch air shocks for a reasonable price. Wondering if I should keep looking or go with a set of 1 inch shocks and get a lowering kit? If I get a lowering kit, which kit would be best and safe?
Yes it will. I did a 1" Billet setup on mine and it actually improved the ride quality on mine both with the stock and my 412 shocks. I wouldn't recommend going more than an inch block as it will change angle too much.
Why not try the 13" Electra Glide shocks and see how they ride.
If you need to lower them the DK kit is a Tamarack kit (I believe) which is good stuff from what research I've done.
The angle will increase with the lowering kit which effectively "softens" the ride due to the increased angle.
I run the 13" air shocks and the ride is very soft and supple.
I might look into the lowering blocks myself this spring , as I like the bike a bit lower at stop lights.
Here's what full 13" shocks look like on the 48.
A very nice ride if you don't mind the height.
Watch the belt tension when you do the mod as it will probably tighten some from stock , make sure it's not over tight.
