Sold the Heritage...The Hunt begins

The 14 is nice but if they added harley hard bags I doubt they would go under or even close to their asking price for the bike. Harley bags are expensive, like 1500 bucks expensive

I got a price of $11600 OTD on a new 14 1200T (sales tax is only $300 here)
Bags are $729 MSRP for the 1200T bag set.
BUt there are usually so many used Sportys I should wait. I did find an 11 Custom with 4K for $6200 with Slip ons and a back rest But its 5 hours away and the owner has no way of getting here and I don't have a hauler
I may have to wait until after bike week to get a larger selection and motivated sellers. Everyone tries to sell their bikes before Bike Week. I just sold mine and it cost me all of $600 to ride since last Summer plus some add ons. I so pretty well selling my bikes privately. But my bikes stay stock except for a Stage I and a few safety items like LED headlighting and pristine and have all records and all work done by Harley for better or worse. Thats what sold mine to my buyer Stock with all records intact.
I may go for the white 08 at $5000. I like the 4.5 gal tank. The only thing I don't like is the color.....white pearl. But for $5000 there is a lot of wiggle room to spend some money on paint. I don't usually chrome out my bikes. Only thing i want is slip ons with DK's torque discs. They were nice on a RK I had.

I think it was 2011 that the Customs went from the skinny front tire to the fat one. Also, prior to that point all the Customs had laced wheels, not mags.
So if the Custom with a fatty mag is your criteria, then your going to be looking at the newer models of the Custom...or a modified Sporty.
That 2008 white one in the craiglist that you posted has a Custom (4.5 gallon) tank, but it is not a Custom. It is a 1200 Low that had the 3.3 gallon tank replaced with the 4.5.
There are a good many deals to be had.
We just picked up a 2010 48 a couple of months ago... only 3370 miles on it for $5800.
I checked not bad $95 one way drop off but....
I have a CRV no hitch....and a Corvette.....no hitch on that either....
I can wait for a local deal. Bike Week is coming....People will be selling to get the big bikes.

On a side note, TenMidgets, think the white one might go well with your choice of shoes! LOL!
BTW, glad to see you are not giving the bike up totally.

No I am not giving up riding, I am just going back to what I remember loved most about riding....a Bicycle with 70HP. I had the most fun on the smaller bikes and the most comfort on the ULtra and Heritage. I want fun back. Aesthetics be dammed.. Comfort I do need. I am not riding to Sturgis or Charleston for that matter
I almost considered a Yamaha Bolt R Spec. But no accessories and the metric dealer here absolutely blows.....One of the reasons I parted with my perfectly good seven year old Yamaha V Star 1300 for the Road King. My first Harley earned error...
I really want that fatty front end with mid controls. I may have to spend a little more of my Heritage money.
Love my fat front tire. It tracks well and absorbs some bumps. The custom comes standard with forward controls, which I like. Helps relive pressure on the hip, just got to suck it up going over bumps.
All good.

If I'm just out and about or commuting in jeans it's either my MX-1's or Sidi's, both are excellent riding shoes:

Congrats on getting back into motorcycles after your sojourn into the minivan world. A Sportster can be a wonderful thing, if configured correctly.
