first post... hello all...
i've been looking at harleys for a bit and am thinking of doing a hardtail project bike... something with a springer front end etc... i ran across an S&S motor... they want way to much for it but i'm looking into it just for the hell of it... they make a 100' motor that would smoke all but the most burly big twins, beings as the sportsters are 250 to 300 lbs lighter... the problem i am having is finding information about a transmission that would be up to the added torque... the motor that S&S sells [at 8,000+] doesn't come with a trans [WTF] and there is no information on where to find one...[ps, i would want to go with a 5 speed]... can anyone here point me in the right direction... also, does anyone have pictures of your own hardtail projects to share...? one thing i like about the sportsters is that they cost so much less than the big v bikes... their wide open to people on a budget who want to tinker... i've already found one site that deals exclusively with chopped and bobbed sportsters and will post a link as soon as i figure out how... so are there any other loose nuts out there with some info.....? thanks all..... j
