No cutting wires but you will have to remove the headlight from the eyebrow and disconnect the wire from the harness that leads to the headlight. The main ring of the slotted headlight fits behind the lip of the edge of the headlight bucket.

So installation was a breeze, but has anybody ever tried to get one off? I'm trying to install an LED Daymaker, and I can't get this damn grill off for the life of me!

I know this is an old thread, but did you ever get yours off? I ran into the same issue. Think it's cutting into the headlight inhibiting it from turning properly. Put it on, undecided if I like the grill or not. Still undecided, but looks like the lack of being able to take it off has made the decision for me.

To the original poster, you can get it completely snugged up - it’s a case of firstly making sure you haven’t cross threaded it , the thread size is very small - also applying plenty of WD40, - also twisting the bezel so that it is snugged up to the lip all the way around (it sometimes catches at a very slight angle and you don’t notice) - finally as you tighten the grill up up to the bezel keep going back and forth ensuring the bezel keeps flush with the lip. I’ve done three of these and the bezel not seating up flush to the lip occurred twice and and i found it was worth the time to work the threads prior to installing ie. use WD40 and join the bezel and grill together on the workbench- it needs a little prep like this to help achieve that tightest bezel to grill fit. You can do it - no need to have the gap!
To those trying to remove one, the answer is plenty of WD40. The un-tightening will occur it just needs the lube and patience! I got a strong mate to hold the bezel tight and I levered the grill anti-clockwise with the longest screwdriver slotted across the most central grill slot. You really don’t need to start sawing or cutting, it would be a shame to damage the product. The only reason I was taking mine off is to change from a all black one to a chrome grill one.
Night-time riding - I don’t think you can tell any difference between no grill and with grill.
A final note - yeah, the cheap copy ones are very good/high quality.

Cheers - good for you darthxrinzler. Hopefully mhoffman54 reads my post and he can install his new day-maker and then successfully reinstall his grill too.

Any tips to keep the headlight from moving to freely in the grill and my biggest problem is the grill spins from the bike vibration anyone have a solution to keep the grill in place? I have it all the way tightened I too found that it’s best to screw it on and off a few times before putting it on the bike because the threads are so small they easily catch and get misaligned and then you get it stuck.
