I bought my Iron on Sunday, 3/29. The dealer threw in free FC's and I wanted taller bars so they took it to the service bay. Here it is 4/4 and still no Harley in my garage They said they have to wait on parts to come in. Guess patience is a virtue but I'm just so freakin' excited lol. Sorry for the random thread guys.
Check out the Rush Short Series pipes. They're $100 less than the Vance & Hines pipes and they're ceramic coated inside AND out and yes it DOES make a difference! Most pipes are extremely hot to the touch but mine aren't so bad. Obviously you still don't want to be touching them either way but chit happens. Don't forget to use new exhaust port gaskets, blue Loctite, anti-seize, and copper spray gasket when changing pipes.

Thanks for the tip! I was leaning towards just doing slip ons instead of whole pipes. Don't really wanna buy a programmer right now. I started out oogling the V&H short shots but I see those on so many bikes...

You got that right. Originally I was going to go with the V&H pipes, too, but once I saw the Rush pipes I decided to go with them instead. They sound a little more throaty but still have that nice rumble when you crack it open.
I'm guessing FC = Foward Controls.
I want to know what da hell "copper spray gasket" is, and where do you use it. All I've ever used for pipe swaps are the gaskets in the head and/or the gaskets that are used in the cross-over pipe.
Blue Loctite (medium strength) has its uses all over the bike, but for exhaust applications, I believe the heat negates its holding properties. I smear a light coating of anti-seize on the exhaust gaskets before placing them in their ports and a smear on the exhaust flange studs (that thread into the heads).
