Score !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wanted the 03 specifically and the 883 like he had. I could not believe my luck when an older rider was getting a divorce he took his to the dealer for them to sell on consignment. He was the second owner. The first owner was elderly and gave up riding. The second owner was a friend of the first owner and never rode the bike the 3 years that he had it. Last year he decided he would ride it.
He was concerned about the rubber in all the seals, the tires and the belt. So he took it to the dealer and had a new battery, tires, drive belt, carb rebuilt and SE intake and exhaust. I have the dealers work order and the bill came to $1,794.78. That was when the dealer's labor cost was $55/hr.
He still didn't ride it. When I saw it I got it for $3,500 directly from the owner. No mark up or fees from the dealer. Cost me $25 for private sale Illinois sales tax. I think a average mileage and condition 03 883 would go for that. But a super low mile 883R in great condition should go for more.
Even if not, I'm excited. The dealer even dropped it off for me today because it was raining.
The Picture is in the garage and my camera doesn't do well with florescent lights but I couldn't wait for sun shine. I'll post a good picture when the sun finally comes out.

It has forward controls. Does anyone know if that was standard?
