Hey all.....got my first Sportster last year. Iron 883/2014. Love just about everything about it. Getting new pipes/3" slash cut V&H slip ons.
Question for this new-bie. Do I need anything besides having the pipes put on and having a new air filter installed? Do I need the Power Commander 5 OR the Screaming Eagle Tuner installed? I really would appreciate some advice here.
I've read that you should tune the EFI if you change both the intake and exhaust. You'll want to tune it, anyway. Try to find an indy shop with a dyno if you're tuning it for potential.
You should do a Tuner/ EFI with your planned mods. The bikes already run lean from the factory due to EPA regs.
What's your budget for a tuner? I have the V&H Slash cut slip ons, Screaming Beagle AC, & Fuel Moto Micro EFI. I'm very happy with my current set up
The Power Commander V is a great product. Fuel Moto sells them for $349, double warranty, and unlimited map support. Their FM Micro EFI runs $199,and both tuners are easy to install.
Tried the XIED's and they didn't work too well with the V&Hs.
